Hello, folks! My name is Tori. I am a Certified Veterinary Assistant as of 2021 and have loved animals my whole life. I have some knowledge and experience about our furry house pets I am looking forward to sharing with you all, as well as, you all get to join my journey as I care for my own animals at home and continue to learn from them. I was not planning on working with animals. I grew up being surrounded by dogs and cats. While I was in high school, I was planning on becoming a nurse for humans and then maybe start my own business. Those plans fell through and I started school to become a veterinary technician in 2020. I was working at a 5 star hotel at the time and told my boss I was tired of hearing people making a large scene and complain about the temperature of their burger (the burger was also wagyu beef) when there are more important things going on in the world. I have huge respect for my hospitality coworkers and enthusiasts. They do work very hard. What made me choose veterinary medicine was my parents’ dog, Faux, got pregnant and had puppies. Experiencing the process and helping care for them confirmed I should be working with animals. I hustled through school and was also taking care of my grandma. Met the man of my dreams during this time. Finished off school starting at a veterinary hospital and graduated with a Veterinary Assistant Associates. I was on track to become a Veterinary Technician, but I got into a car accident the following year I graduated from the assistant program. I had a hard time with being consistent with working in the highly active field and had to switch to a desk job at the previous 5-star hotel I quit. I LOVED and MISS working in vet medicine. My partner, that I met during school, asked me recently if I wanted to go back into an animal hospital and I cried. I loved the work so much. I knew that decision was not logical if my body was going to have a hard time keeping up. I asked God, ‘What the heck am I supposed to do with this knowledge you gave me?’. He told me multiple times to write, and I did not listen. So here we are!
What I am hoping to do with this blog is provide you all useful information to help make decisions for your furry friends and even possibly in the vet office. I do have my own preferences and opinions, but I do know those can change over time. Besides not all of you will agree or can afford the methods and decisions I make for my animals. So, I will make it my duty to provide you different information for different scenarios to help you all make your own decisions. No pet or pet personality is all the same, just like human children and not all of you have the same lifestyles for your animals. You all know your fur kiddos better than I do and if you love and care for your animals you will know what is best for them and for yourselves. I believe in you all. See you in the blog posts!
